Google suspended "PixArt Gallery TV App" from its Google Play Store on 31-Oct-2020. We relaunched the App after changes and approvals from Google Play, on 12-Dec-2020. Our App is now named "PixTopper Gallery" on Google Play (our App continues its identity as "PixArt Gallery" on Apple and Amazon App Stores)
Background
Google Play suspended our App due to the name "PixArt Gallery" sounding similar to another App's name.
We do not agree with the complaint or the action taken. How can any developer ensure that millions/billions of Apps will have unique names? There may be overlaps with certain words. Shutting down Apps because "Pix" and "Pics" sound similar, hence, violates a trademark, does not augur well in the internet age. What do you think? Also, we don't think users/customers like yourselves are unintelligent: even though there are 2 apps, one starts with "Pix" and the other with "Pics" - will you not check, what the difference between these apps are and make a decision to get the respective App as per your need? We believe users are intelligent enough to understand differences in product features and will not get confused by their names alone eg., "Pix" vs "Pics"
